The Story of My Beloved Pigeon and Its Illness

Pigeon and Its Illness

Today, I want to share a small story from my childhood. Back then, I was very young, and like most kids, I had a sudden urge to get a pet. For some reason, I became fascinated with pigeons and decided that I wanted to keep one. After much thought, I started searching for a way to fulfill my wish.

One day, I realized that one of my cousins, who lived nearby, used to keep pigeons. Unfortunately, he was quite poor and couldn’t afford to give away a pigeon for free. I offered him a small amount of money in exchange, and he agreed to sell me one of his pigeons. I was overjoyed when I finally got my hands on the pigeon. For the next few days, I spent my time playing with it and taking care of it with great excitement.

The pigeon was beautiful. It had striking black patches on its wings, and its feathers were soft and smooth with a darkish hue. I was still a student at the time, but I managed to find time to take care of the bird, even though I had schoolwork to do.

Things were going well until one day, I noticed something odd. My pigeon started acting a little off. It seemed weaker and less energetic than before. When I looked closely, I saw a strange mark on its beak. I had never seen anything like it before, and I had no idea what was wrong.

I panicked. Not knowing what to do, I went straight to my cousin, the one from whom I had bought the pigeon, and asked for help. Unfortunately, he was just as clueless as I was. He had no idea what kind of illness this could be or how to treat it. So, I started asking around, hoping someone could help. But no one seemed to know what was going on with my pigeon. Some people offered advice, but nothing seemed to work. I was losing hope.

Eventually, I decided that I needed professional help. In our area, we didn’t have many resources for pets, let alone pigeons. After asking around, I found out about a vet who specialized in treating animals, but his clinic was far from our home. Still, I was determined to save my pigeon, so I made the long journey to the vet, hoping for some answers.

When I finally arrived, the vet examined the pigeon carefully. After a thorough check-up, he explained that the pigeon had contracted a disease called “pox,” which is quite common among birds. He prescribed some medication and gave me clear instructions on how to apply it.

I returned home and followed the vet’s advice religiously. Every day, I would apply the medicine to the pigeon and monitor its progress. The days passed slowly, and I watched with anticipation, hoping for some sign of improvement. After about 15 days, I finally noticed that the symptoms were starting to fade. My pigeon’s health was gradually improving, and I felt a huge sense of relief.

The experience taught me a lot about patience and responsibility. Though I was just a child, taking care of that pigeon during its illness made me realize how important it is to take care of the things (and beings) we love. I had been so happy when I first got the pigeon, and when it fell sick, I did everything I could to save it. The joy I felt when it finally started to recover was indescribable.

This was the story of my beloved pigeon and the illness it faced. It was a small incident, but it had a lasting impact on me. Even today, I look back on that time and smile, remembering how much I cared for that little bird.
